Current status of project:

After our first meeting with Dr. Lee last Monday (8/31), we have mutually agreed to work on this project.

Afterwards, both parties have done more research on the existing similar APP as well as the potential scope of the projection.

We now have a basic understanding of:

    - The features of some existing similar APPs for locating nearby AED:

        a.       http://www.pulsepoint.org/pulsepoint-aed/

         b.      http://www.aedlocator.org/AEDLocations.php

    - How we can leverage Google Map:

We can use Google Map APi without paying for it as long as we make our APP free and available to the general public

    - The existing systems use by the paramedic and EMTs:

St Louis EMS and Abbott ambulance use two-way radios.  Yet, most/every paramedic and EMT also carries their own smart phone.

Clayton Fire utilized a tablet (non-Apple) with 4G coverage

Most departments utilize tablets for record keeping but without 4G cards

Work planned for next week:

1. Decide whether we want to start with iphone or Android first.

2. Continue to learn more about how to leverage Google Map API, the platform that we will possibly develop our app on.

3.  Start to think about the basic features that our APP need to have.

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:

1. Guidance and advice for phone apps development will be helpful.

2. Since there is no standard on what type of device EMS carries, we would like to talk with the client about how we could best approach it.

Current status of project:

We expect to have our second meeting with Dr. Lee and his team this afternoon, and we will further define the scope the project given the feedback we got from different instructors.

The website is up, and we will add more content as we proceed with the projection.

Considering all the factors, we have decided to start with ios system when writing the APP.

We chose google MAP SDK as a platform to develop the application and have been learning basics operations about it.

Work planned for next week:

1. Continue to fill in the website with more charts, graphs and context.

2. Continue to learn more about how to leverage Google Map SDK, the platform that we will possibly develop our app on. Try to develop a prototype of our program before next week.

3.  Start to think about how to implement and achieve the features and designs that our APP need to have.

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:

1. Guidance and advice for iphone apps development will be helpful.

2. Advices on whether the app will need FDA approval will be helpful.

3. Would like to set up a time to talk about the preliminary report/presentation if possible.

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:

1. Still need to work on the data base structure.

Date: 10/26/2015

Current status of project:

We did not have a meeting with our client this week, but we did not stop working on the project. Although the team experienced some trouble with constructing the data base, the team is still making progress with other parts. Meanwhile, the team finished the progress report and presentation.

As usual, the website will continuously be updated "http://zaoxiaolei.wix.com/seniordesign401"

The team has proposed to use iPhone navigation instead of Google Map. It seems like the iPhone navigation is much easier to implement into the APP.

Work planned for next week:

1. Continue to work on the APP, especially the data base.

2, We need to start to think about using 'designsafe' to generate the risk analyst report.

3. For the pages that we already have the code, we need to start to polish with better user interfaces.

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:

1. We might need to schedule another meeting with the TA or Professor Silva to talk about the data base structure.

Date: 11/02/2015

Our team just had a brief meeting this morning. Unfortunately, the application is not finished. We are experiencing difficulties with connecting the database to the application. Consequently, we do not have much information to present this week. In consideration of everyone's time, it might be a better decision to push the meeting to next week. We sincerely apologize for the delay and we will try to consult professors in the Computer Science department to resolve the issue. However, we do have a few updates on the project.

1. We have been mainly working on the progress report last week for the course. A copy of the report is attached to this email. The report summarized our decision making process that leaded us to develop this application. Jen will be presenting the report this Wednesday.

2. We are experimenting to use iPhone navigation instead of Google Map. During the development, we discovered that iphone navigation is much easier to implement into the app. Consequently, we are implementing both navigation to compare.

Date: 11/9/2015

Current status of project:

We had our last meeting with the client last week, we talked about the IP issue, the designsafe report, and Bob showed the prototype codes. More important, we got some valuable feedback from the client in terms of how to better design each page, and we are working on the updates.

As usual, the website will continuously be updated "http://zaoxiaolei.wix.com/seniordesign401"

The team has proposed to use iPhone navigation instead of Google Map. It seems like the iPhone navigation is much easier to implement into the APP. And the prototype has supported this.

The problem with the data base has been mostly solved.

Work planned for next week:

1. Continue to work on the APP, especially the "CSS page" that we were missing.

2, We need to start to think about using 'designsafe' to generate the risk analyst report.

3. Need to include "onset time", and consider if it's within the 6 hours window.

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:

1. The client already provided the info on the capabilities of the nearby hospitals

2, We would love to discuss about the prototype with Joseph and Dr. Silva some time this week

3, Need dummy valuable for testing purpose

Date: 11/16/2015

Current status of project:

We had our latest meeting with the client this afternoon. Since our last meeting, the design team made a few modifications to the prototype. For example, we added a page for CSS (Cincinnati Stroke Scale), which shows up before the LAMS page. We also included most nearby hospitals into our database (data provided by Client), and we are still working on how to best organize these data so it wound't take too much space/memory in the phone.

As usual, the website will continuously be updated "http://zaoxiaolei.wix.com/seniordesign401"

Work planned for next week:

1. Continue to work on the APP, especially some small things like units conversion from second to minutes, etc.

2, We need to start to think about using 'designsafe' to generate the risk analyst report.

3. Need to think about where we want to take this APP after the class.

Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:

1. The client already provided the info on the capabilities of the nearby hospitals

2, We would love to discuss about the prototype with Dr. Silva some time this week
